January 2014 – January 2016

Reporter/ Anchor/ Producer – Bell Media (CJAD 800 – Montreal)

Principally employed as a reporter, producer and anchor, as well as fulfilling a variety of other tasks in my position as a broadcast journalist. This included, but was not limited to:

Reporting current local events, attending press conferences and scrums

Producing content, scheduling interviews and researching for various programs and hosts (including the syndicated Viewpoints with Todd van der Heyden)

Technical work, such as recording and editing interviews, and as a result am proficient in various programs and tools, such as iRig, VoxPro, Wide Orbit, Audacity and Burli (contact management system and audio editor)

Co-hosting and providing interview content to live discussion programs and live events

Live programming production and direction

Writing and editing copy for the station’s website, writing and editing scripts for hosts and developing the station’s social media presence

April 2012 – January 2014

Communications Analyst – Towers Watson (Montreal)

As a communications analyst in a global actuarial and human resources consulting firm, my responsibilities focused on developing and editing communications documents and campaigns. This involved fulfilling several communications roles:

Copywriting, editing, proofing as well as translation

Assisting senior consultants in preparing briefs, presentations and meetings

Developing documents for clients, including health and group benefits statements, pension statements and enrolment guides, corporate handbooks and manuals, new employee guides, newsletters

Assisting in the conception and development of communications strategies for pension enrolment campaigns, mergers and acquisitions, employee engagement

Facilitating panel discussions and focus groups with clients with an aim to design and develop health and group benefit plans

February – October 2012, June – October 2014

Communications Coordinator – Association for Canadian Studies (Montreal)

Contract work to develop the association’s social and digital media presence. This included developing content for and regularly updating the association’s website, developing a social media strategy, writing and editing press releases and documenting conferences among other responsibilities.

August 2010 – May 2011

Interpretive Guide – Canadian Centre for Architecture (Montreal)

Primary responsibilities included giving tours of the buildings, garden and exhibits to the public in both official languages. Also involved leading and assisting with pedagogical and family-oriented educational activities, as well as private and specialized tours for invited guests. On occasion this position also required leading architectural tours of other parts of the city, typically for small tour groups to experience various aspects of the city’s history, architecture, design and urban development trends.

March – August 2010

Moderator & Copywriter – Airborne Mobile (Montreal)

Copy and script-writer for a variety of interactive programs developed by Airborne Mobile for their TXT-TV start-up (a specialty cable channel with a smartphone-enabled function allowing home participation in a variety of games and chat programs). Also involved in moderating and leading discussions between viewers in addition to developing a ‘behind the scenes’ blog.

February 2010

Canadian Delegation Assistant – Dept. of Foreign Affairs & International Trade

My responsibility was to take detailed notes for the Canadian delegation at the G8 Security Conference, held in Montreal prior to the larger summit later that year in Toronto.

Program Assistant – Historica-Dominion Institute (Toronto)

Principally involved in the Veterans Appreciation Day project, a series of community events organized throughout Ontario in which local veterans were honoured and the Institute was able to further its efforts at familiarizing the public with the exploits and experiences of Canada’s ‘greatest generation’. Also involved in other communications-related endeavours, such as preparing press releases, managing a micro-site as well as outreach to the Institute’s donors. This job started off as a paid internship in 2007, itself a component of the Dominion-Magna-Fulbright scholarship won earlier as a finalist in Canada’s Next Great Prime Minister.
